On the morining of the last day of URRI 1999 in Vancouver, Mr. Doi, Yukio and Yuko approached Rick and said that Mr. Doi was greatly impressed with how the conferene had gone thus far. Apparently he did not know what to expect from Western people as he had had an unpleasant experience in Japan earlier in 1999 with a UK Reiki master who approached him there. Mr. Doi thought it would be even worse in Vancouver but his students Yukio, Yuko and Amy convinced him that this would not be the case. And after the frist 2 days of the gathering he was very impressed and very pleased. He asked me if I thought we could do the same thing in Kyoto in 2000, and would Andy, Tom and I come to Japan. I said that we woudl definitely be interested and that a Japanese conference would be a wonderful experience for any who attended. So
it was that by the spring of 2000 Yukio, Yuko and Miyuki began to interact
via email with Tom , Andy and I about how the conference could be run.
As Rick had done in Vancouver, Yuko and Yuko enlsted the services of some
of their own students to help preare and run the conference. The
conference date was set for November and Mr. Doi was informed of ou progress.
Meanwhile, Andy, Tom and I began to promtoe teh conference outside of Japan,
encouraging Western Reiki practitioenrs and masters to come join us in
Kyoto in the fall.
