While the experience has been my own, I feel that you should decide for yourself how much (if any) of the content has any usefulness to your own Reiki work. Sometimes
a question in class suddenly reminds me of a past experience.
Recently it was of an old Reiki 1 class experience from the late 1990s
and about a skeptical student
getting validation right then and there that her Reiki was indeed real
and working. A local Italian Canadian
fellow (in his late teens I think) asked if he could learn Reiki as he
wanted to help his mother recover from her hysterectomy. I
mention his cultural background as it was significant in relaton to his
parents. When I
went to their house, his mother was present and as I sat down and began
to explain about Reiki and the class, she didn't offer to leave
when I began teaching. Of course I knew not to even ask her to do
so. So I didn't say anything but just
assumed that this "old country" mom was going to keep an eye on this
"Reiki Master" and what he was teaching her son. I could
understand that, thinking of my own grandparents and their possible
beliefs. So during the course of the training, I attuned her
as well, and took them both through the class exercises. But the real fun
came when I had them each take a turn on the Reiki table for a full
treatment. When the boy worked on his mother, I kind of sensed
that although his hands might feel warm or even hot to her, she was
just think it was a natural sensation. When they switched places
she went to the washroom first. So I did my own quick scan of the
boy while we waited. I was surprised by a sensation of fluttering
in his chest area. I didn't say anything but kept scanning.
When I got to his knees I could feel he had a few injuries there,
nothing critical, but he had told me before that he played
soccer. So I mentioned that his knees felt like they were
recovering from some injury and agreed he had in the past banged them
up. Then I said "But what is all this fluttering sensation up in
your chest area?" He said that he had emphysema as a child, and
that it was mostly gone, but sometimes he would get winded playing
soccer. So I suggested that he work on that area each day and
help it along. Just after that his mother came out of the
washroom so I walked her through the treatment on her son. When
her hands were around his head he remarked that they felt very
warm. Again I could sense that she just felt this was
natural. When she came around to the side of the table and I had
her lay both hands across his chest, he immediately sat up and grabbed
her hands exclaiming loudly how strong and hot the energy felt from
them. She was completely shocked as he was telling her over and
over how amazing they felt. I jthen explained that it
was likely due to his condition in that area, and that his body was now
drawing far more from her than before. And of course I then also knew that she
would have to believe her son that this Reiki stuff was indeed
valid. I felt that after the class, ther would be lots of
exploring this new talent with each other. And for me, this was
just another example of how I always tend to get validation of not only
Reiki but of other new skills I am learning and sharing. I suspect many
of my readers do so as well. |
