Threshold Anecdote - Teaching My Children

- Threshold Reiki Anecdote - This page is one of a series where I share a personal experience or anecdote related to my Reiki work. The pages are also intended to give you some "food for thought" and add to your overall Reiki knowledge base. While the experience has been my own, I feel that you should decide for yourself how much (if any) of the content has any usefulness to your own Reiki work. My own daughters (3 of them) as well as my wife Nadya, were my initial practice subjects after my first master level class in 1994. The girls were ages 6, 9 and 10 at the time. When I attuned our 3 girls I knew they wouldn't all sit still for a formal class. So we laid out a piece of foam on the living room floor and Nadya lay down on it. Then I positioned the 3 girls around her - 2 at her legs and one above her head. But I could soon see that as they began to give Reiki, 2 of the girls were fidgeting and I felt they probably would not remain there without a fuss. So I put on their favourite video (something like a Rainbow Bright movie) and suddenly all 3 just turned their heads towards the TV for the next hour, completely lost in the movie. My First Attunement Practice Subjects - My Family Within a few minutes of the video starting, Nadya asked me to move Sabrina's hands (our oldest) as she said they were get way too hot. Then a minute later I had to do the same for Stephanie (our youngest) as Nadya felt the energy was getting uncomfortably strong at that part of her leg. I also had to move Sacha's hands for her at Nadya's head because Sacha was completely immersed in the show So this is what I did over the length of the show, moving all the girls' hands every few minutes, yet Nadya was certainly experiencing Reiki from each of them all that time. It became obvious to me that in the girls' minds, they accepted that Reiki would automatically flow as Nadya's body needed to draw it, at the different places on the body wherever their hands were. It was as if each girl had turned on a light and then trusted the electricity to flow without their need to focus or concentrate. I think Nadya was quite energized by the end of the movie, and my daughters had taught me something very valuable about the nature of energy healing work and of Reiki. That week I also taught the girls the first 3 Reiki symbols. But I thought they would be too complex for them to learn, I also just gave them a drawing of a number for each, so that they could use that instead. This seemed to work and the energies still flowed when they used the numbers. But by the next morning, my youngest daughter was already drawing all 3 symbols in their original format, just from memory. Again, I was taught another lesson in how smart children can be. (Were we all that smart when we were kids?)
